You can't tattoo it below your waist because its pure. If its below your waist that means insoent very offensive and might bring you bad luck

Need Help
by: Anonymous

I have finally decided what tattoo I would like to get and it happens to be a Tibetan tattoo. I am not religious but I realize the origin in which the tattoo originates. The problem is that I want it below the waist, on my right thigh to be exact. Everything I've read says not to do it below the waist but I can't find reason in the idea. What are the reasons in "above the waist"?

mani mantra tattoo
by: Anonymous

Hi there, Ive been wanting to get the mani mantra tattooed for the longest time. I feel very passionate about the meaning and significance of the mani mantra, however i was wondering do you have to be Buddhist in order to get the tattoo?

Will it bring bad luck if its tattooed on the wrong part of the body, or if the font is a little different (size/color)? or if its faced in a wrong direction? I know it should be tattooed above the waist. is it possible for it to bring bad luck if it is tattooed incorrectly? I'm very superstitious. Please help me..

thanks!

Om Mani Padme Hum Tattoo Placement
by: Michelle

I am considering having the mantra tattooed on my left wrist. I knew that it should be above the waist, but the original question on this topic mentioned not placing it upside-down. This now has me questioning how it should be positioned on my wrist. I had planned to have it so that it would be right-side-up and read properly when I look at my wrist. My concern is that when my hand is at my side, the mantra will then be upside-down. Is this okay?

Thank you so much for your counsel,

Tibetan Tattoos Question
by: Patricia From Tibetan Life

Hi Patty,

It's ok to split up the Tibetan words or mantra but make sure that the right syllables are grouped together.

Have a great day!

Om Mani Padme Hum Tibetan Tattoo vertical?
by: Patty

Hello, compliments to your site first.

I read several comments about writing the mantra vertical or not. I'd like to have it on my spinal column. Because I read that it's possible to split it up, as long as it does not change the meaning or the character itselfes.
I don't wanna be disprespecting.

What is your opinion on that?

Thank you very much, and nice day tomorrow :)

Placement of Tibetan Tattoos
by: Patricia From Tibetan Life

Hi Lisa,

It's ok to put Tibetan Tattoos on the forearms. Not placing mantras or Buddha pictures below the waist usually means not on the buttocks, lower abdomen or legs and feet.

You can order a translation here.

Take care,

tattoo placement

I am thinking about getting a tibetan mantra on my forearm as well, but on the inside. If it is supposed to be above your waste, isn't a forearm a no-no? Is it ok. I have a tattoo inside my arm above the elbow, and I want the mantra to be lined up with it, but I want it in the correct manner. Please advice.

Respectfully,

Lisa
